What material is PET?
PET material, also known as polyethylene terephthalate, commonly known as polyester resin, is the main type of thermoplastic polyester.
PET is divided into fiber grade polyester chips and non fiber grade polyester chips Fiber grade polyester is used to manufacture polyester short fibers and polyester filament, and is a raw material for polyester fiber enterprises to process fibers and related products. Polyester is the largest variety in chemical fiber production Non fiber grade polyester is also widely used in packaging, electronics, healthcare, construction, automobiles, and other fields for bottle and film applications. Packaging is the largest non fiber application market for polyester and also the fastest-growing field for PET.
Advantages of PET as a packaging material:
1. It has good mechanical properties, with an impact strength 3-5 times that of other films, and good bending resistance.
2. Resistant to oil, fat, dilute acids, and alkalis, and most solvents.
3. It has excellent resistance to high and low temperatures, and can be used for a long time within the temperature range of 120 ℃. It can withstand high temperatures of 150 ℃ and low temperatures of -70 ℃ for short-term use, and has little impact on its mechanical properties at high and low temperatures.
4. Low permeability of gas and water vapor, with excellent gas resistance, water, oil, and odor resistance.
5. High transparency, can block ultraviolet rays, and has good glossiness.
6. It is non-toxic, odorless, and has good hygiene and safety, and can be directly used for food packaging.
